Kolkata-based Ayurvedic doctor Jashmeet Singh Arora, dubbed 'Guṭhlī Man,' is leading a significant environmental effort to combat pollution and heat in India by promoting mango tree plantation. His 'Guṭhlī Mission,' initiated in 2016-17, focuses on collecting mango seeds to grow saplings and raise environmental awareness, particularly among children and farmers. Through his 'Tree Lenger' initiative, Arora has distributed over 8 lakh free saplings, fostering a connection with nature and educating communities on ecological balance. With growing support from various sectors, Arora plans to establish 100 nurseries nationwide for natural farming training, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of mango trees, from cooling effects to medicinal properties, and aiming to instill environmental consciousness from an early age.
